| Wolves Dominate In Preseason Finale Posting Date: July 13 2010

PLAINFIELD – A stunning defensive performance propelled the New Jersey Wolves over the New York Rebels 26-8 in their final preseason game at Seidlers Field Saturday. Ray Myers and Tashan Huff scored defensive touchdowns for the Wolves in the win.
The Wolves started slow, as initially they had trouble corralling Rebel quarterback Corey Sage on the opening drive. Shage used his Randall Cunningham-like ability to move the Rebels 70 yards before the Wolves caused a fumble in the red zone. Myers scooped up the loose football and raced 91 yards (the last ten in Deion Sanders high-stepping fashion) for the first score of the game.
Undaunted on the second drive, Sage led the Rebels to their lone score a short run from inside the 5-yard line.
The Wolves’ offense took the field for the first time in the second quarter and opened the drive with two runs by Daryl Luck that netted 25 yards. The drive stalled deep in Rebel territory.
On the next Rebel drive, the Wolves solved the Sage puzzle. Using their team speed to chase the quarterback down, the Wolves forced a punt. A grabbed shirt stopped Joe Epps from returning the punt for a touchdown. The Wolves drove the 46 yards in three plays, 38 of the yards on the legs of Luck, with the drive culminating in a Mark Johnson 6-yard touchdown pass and a 14-8 lead.
Both defenses stepped up in the second half, as they forced turnovers on three of the first four possessions in the third quarter. Huff intercepted his second pass of the half in the fourth quarter, and returned it for a touchdown giving the Wolves a 20-8 lead.
Huff sealed the game for the Wolves with a decleating hit on Sage on a fourth down attempt late in the fourth quarter. The Wolves used their power running game behind Luck and Darryl Kennedy to grind down the clock before Johnson connected with Sheldon Nunn for the final score of the game.
The Wolves open their season at home July 24 against the New Jersey Spartans at 7 pm.
