RAHWAY – Defense. Plainfield opened their Union County Tournament quest with an impressive display on the defensive end. The Cardinals limited the Scotch Plains scoring effort to single-digits every quarter on their way to a 67-28 win in Rahway.
Plainfield amassed 17 steals in the contest as they limited Scotch Plains’ high scoring guard Charles Oliver to 10 points.Previously, Oliver lit Plainfield up for 28-second half points; there would be no explosion in this game.
Nate Grant-Dewitt provided the second scoring option for the Cardinals, connecting on 75 percent (6-8) shots from the floor including three from beyond the arc for 15 points.Plainfield opened each quarter with runs (13-0, 19-2, 8-0, and 9-0) widening the lead, as the game went on.
Tyrone Jonson led all scorers with 18 points.Dominique Blackmon came off the Plainfield bench to grab a game-high five rebounds.
