LINDEN – Plainfield defeated Linden 43-32 in a defensive battle between two of New Jersey’s top public high schools.The stingy Cardinal defense limited Linden’s high scorer, Qadeer Lewis to seven points in the contest.
Jeffrey Knight and Elijah Hodge combined to connect for nine points, shooting 3-3 from behind the arc for Linden (14-3).Good thing, because Plainfield (15-2) sophomores Justin Sears and Dii’Jon Allen-Jordan held Lewis to 1 – 6 shooting during the opening period.Tyrone Johnson kept the visiting Cardinals close with seven points in the opening session.
Mike Price manned up on Hodge and the Cardinals switched defenses with each trip down the court.The multiple sets brought Linden’s offense to a grinding halt.Linden mustered four points in the quarter, effectively ending the competitive aspect of the game.
Sophomore Sekou Harris and senior Nathan Grant-Dewitt sparked the decisive run combining for 11 straight points during a 25-4 run over the second and third quarters.

It was another balanced scoring effort for the Cardinals with Tyrone Johnson leading the way with 13 points.
Justin Sears grabbed a game-high eight rebounds.
Mike Price dished a game-high five assists.
Elijah Hodge and Jeffrey Knight led the Tigers in scoring with eight points each.
