SCOTCH PLAINS – Allen Brown and Nate Grant-Dewitt led a first quarter 17-7 charge that carried the Plainfield Cardinals to a 60-49 victory over the Scotch Plains-Fanwood Blue Raiders in Scotch Plains.
Brown connected for two early treys and Grant-Dewitt took advantage of the extra playing time (as Dii’Jon Allen-Jordan sat out due to injury) by netting four points during the run.
Scotch Plains trailed 29-12 entering the third quarter before Charles Oliver took charge.Oliver exploded for 26 second-half points, singlehandedly cutting the lead to single digits in the fourth quarter.
Oliver’s effort fell short as Brown and Justin Sears combined to shoot 8-11 from the foul line down the stretch to seal the victory.
