PLAINFIELD – Tyrone Johnson dropped a season-high 30 points in helping the Cardinals bounce back from their first lost of the season.Elizabeth had the task of facing the Cardinals on their home floor, hung around for a half before the Cardinals exploded in the third period enroute to a 65-47 victory.
J.R. Pringley tried to keep Elizabeth (4-9) in the game, but Plainfield’s (13-1) combination of size and speed eventually overwhelmed Elizabeth.In the decisive third quarter, the Cardinals minimized Elizabeth’s shot attempts with their effort on the defensive boards and pressure of the Elizabeth’s ball handlers.Johnson outscored Elizabeth 11-7 as Plainfield dominated building an 18-point bulge.
Justin Sears capped off another strong game (12 points 10 rebounds) with a coast-to-coast dunk off a steal in the final period.
