PLAINFIELD – The threat of a new league is just that, a threat, the Queen City Baseball League continued business as usual with their second registration for the upcoming season at the South Avenue McDonalds in Plainfield.
“Queen City Baseball League will be in existence in 2010,” said league president, Karen Glencamp-Daniel.
Last season the league made strides outside the city limits in terms of perceptions.
“I feel through our existence we can get rid of the negative ideas about Plainfield,” Glencamp-Daniel said. “Through the relationships we have built with the surrounding towns we interacted with, they see the positive things we are teaching our kids.”
One returning parent shared the same sentiment.
“I like the way he worked with the kids, the way he treats the kids,” returning parent Maira Medina said referencing hers son’s coach from last season.
“Our parents see the sportsmanship of our coaches and players and comment on the positive outlook we bring to the game,” Glencamp-Daniel added.
The early registrations give families a chance to space out registration fees along with the league a chance to gauge the numbers for participation. As of now the numbers are coming in at a steady rate.
“This is our second registration and we have around 40 players signed up for the upcoming season,” Glencamp-Daniel said. “This lets me know we are on track for another successful season.”
